Goathland is an attractive village on the North Yorkshire Moors, which also has a station on the North York Moors Railway. The village has a long history and was once a spa town, but is best known now as being the fictional Aidensfield in the TV series, ‘Heartbeat’. There are several shops and places to stay, including the Goathland Hotel – which was the Aidensfield Arms in the series. Nearby is Mallyan Spout, a 70′ waterfall, and Wade’s Causeway, an old trackway (perhaps Roman). Goathland Station was Hogsmead Station in the 2001 film, ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’.  The area is great for walkers.
