Trooper William Pearson was a survivor of the Charge of the Light Brigade in 1854. He was born in King Street, Penrith in 1826 and died in Aynam Road, Kendal in 1909. His grave and memorial are in Parkside Cemetery, Kendal. There is a plaque on his birthplace and the Penrith and Eden Museum has his medals and other items.
