Souter Lighthouse was the first purpose built lighthouse to be lit by electricity. There are cracking views from the top, you can get up close and personal with a rather large light bulb and there is a fascinating museum. On the adjacent grass-covered cliff top, there used to be a mining village – not a trace of this can be seen. All about are the cries of hundreds of seabirds and the breezy grassland – the Leas – is also home to a variety of wildflowers.
