Keld Chapel is tiny and charming. Situated in a remote, rural, hamlet, it looks very ordinary, but is thought to date from 16th century and to have been a remote chantry chapel for Shap Abbey, which was dissolved in 1540. The chapel has subsequently been used as a cottage and for meetings. The key can be obtained from the house opposite, but instructions may be found on the chapel door.
