Eden Camp sometimes describes itself Yorkshire’s World War 2 museum. It is an unusual, extraordinary, slightly quirky, occasionally amateurish, but immensely enjoyable museum housed in an ex-POW camp, dedicated to 20th century history but majoring on military and the Second World War. It contains a mass of information and displays, mostly inside vintage Nissan huts, and has a distinctly period feel. Each hut has a different theme and many have life-size tableaux, some with sounds and even smells. It also hosts events – so check before you travel.
