Constable Burton Hall is an 18th century house and estate, which has been in the Wyvill family for 450 years. The house, which is on the site of an earlier building, is not generally open to the public, although special tours are available. But the gardens are open at specified times in spring and summer and events are held in the grounds too. Constable Burton is particularly known for its annual tulip festival, held over the early May Bank Holiday, which showcases thousands of bulbs – but the gardens are a delight anyway. Do not confuse Constable Burton with the National Trust property of Burton Constable – and do not confuse either of them with policemen.
