The launch of ‘A Bit About Britain’s History’, both e-book and paperback versions, has been delayed. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to take the decision yesterday to cancel the publication due for 23 August. You can imagine how exasperating and teeth-gnashingly frustrating this is. In fact, that’s somewhat under-stated.
The cancellation automatically cancels the pre-orders for the e-book. I am really sorry about that and hope that those who went to the trouble of ordering a copy won’t be deterred from repeating the process when the book does become available. Because it will – and as soon as possible – I estimate days, rather than weeks.
I also want to apologise to people who have so generously promoted news of the book in various ways so far. Thank you for your amazing support; I hope it’s not asking too much for you to hang on in there…
This is just a blip. There will be no pre-order next time. As soon as both versions are available, I will post a notice here on the website, as well as on Facebook and Twitter.
Many congratulations on eventually publishing, Mike, and for persevering through the aggravating set-backs. Your book looks fabulous and I wish you every success with it. I’ll be sure to read it asap.
Thanks, Millie – you’re a superstar!
I am sorry that you are having problems with your book publication.
For you and your followers it will be worth the wait xx
Thank you kindly, CP; it will be sorted any moment, I’m sure x.
I am patiently waiting – the To-be-read pile on my shelf is not shrinking fast 🙂
I know the feeling, Meike! Thanks!
Sorry to hear about the delay. I shall certainly purchase a copy when it is available
Thank you, Sue. I don’t think the delay will be long.
So sorry that happened. I will order again when the time comes. We’re really looking forward to your book!! Hang in there.
Thanks, Judy! No pressure, then…
Hi Mike,
I’m so sorry for your frustration with the publication of your book! I had not pre-ordered, but was planning to purchase a copy nevertheless. It is an honor to have one’s book published, and congratulations to you, my friend!! I’m currently reading yet another book set in medieval England, historical fiction.
Other than the current aggravation, I hope all is well with you. Are you experiencing the heat wave where you are? It’s awfully hot here, but that’s nothing new for us in August. Take care and have a great weekend!
Hugs,
Denise
Thanks very much, Denise. Frustrated and a little nervous!
Best to just have it ready to go when the blip is taken care of.
You’re right, William.
I’m willing to wait, Mike, but terribly aggravating for you – and it’s just as well to let the pre-ordering go.
Thank you , Lisa!
Mike, I feel your frustration. As a fellow author I’ve “been there and done that” with regards to publication dates etc. Hang in there! All good things are worth waiting for and I expect your book is going to be wonderful. I, for one, am happy to wait and reorder when the time comes.
Cheers,
Susan Allen
Thank you, Susan! It’s a very simple book…
Yes, hang in there, Mike! Best to you, D
Appreciate that, Denise!
Well… That’s life aye? Always throwing curve balls at us but we will prevail! I hope the new release date goes well for you.
You’re right, John; just when you think it’s safe to go back in the water…
Blast. I’m betting it’s the paper copy that’s causing the problems. I hope you get it sorted out quickly.
Thank you, April. Just waiting for details to synch now. You’re right – it was the paperback.
Oh no! How frustrating! As if publishing a book isn’t stressful enough…here’s hoping the wrinkles get smoothed out soon and that the rest of the process is problem-free for you 🙂
Thanks, Anne. It’s a huge and steep learning curve, that’s for sure!
Sorry to hear that, Mike. I know how frustrating delays like that can be. I just hope your unforeseen circumstances don’t involve illness or other equally challenging issues that affect you and your family. We’ll be here whenever you publish!
That’s lovely, Jeanie, thank you. No – it was a publishing glitch.
You must be hopping!
Slightly…
Oh dear that’s a bummer! fingers xt for a quick resolution.
Nicely understated, Fraggle. Almost there now – just waiting for details to synch.
Hi Mike – sounds like a frustrating time for you … good luck and we’ll still all be around – take care and enjoy the last of the summer wine! Cheers Hilary
Thanks, Hilary! I don’t know about wine, but certainly going through the beer!
Frustrating enough to wear your teeth down
Yesh, it ish.
Ohh Mike, how frustrating for you. Your happy band of followers are with you, all will be well. Hugs x
That’s so lovely, Jane – thank you! x
