History postponed

Last updated on August 23rd, 2023 at 11:44 am

The launch of ‘A Bit About Britain’s History’, both e-book and paperback versions, has been delayed.  Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to take the decision yesterday to cancel the publication due for 23 August. You can imagine how exasperating and teeth-gnashingly frustrating this is. In fact, that’s somewhat under-stated.

The cancellation automatically cancels the pre-orders for the e-book. I am really sorry about that and hope that those who went to the trouble of ordering a copy won’t be deterred from repeating the process when the book does become available.  Because it will – and as soon as possible – I estimate days, rather than weeks.

I also want to apologise to people who have so generously promoted news of the book in various ways so far. Thank you for your amazing support; I hope it’s not asking too much for you to hang on in there…

This is just a blip.  There will be no pre-order next time.  As soon as both versions are available, I will post a notice here on the website, as well as on Facebook and Twitter.

  1. Many congratulations on eventually publishing, Mike, and for persevering through the aggravating set-backs. Your book looks fabulous and I wish you every success with it. I’ll be sure to read it asap.

  2. Hi Mike,

I’m so sorry for your frustration with the publication of your book! I had not pre-ordered, but was planning to purchase a copy nevertheless. It is an honor to have one’s book published, and congratulations to you, my friend!! I’m currently reading yet another book set in medieval England, historical fiction.

Other than the current aggravation, I hope all is well with you. Are you experiencing the heat wave where you are? It’s awfully hot here, but that’s nothing new for us in August. Take care and have a great weekend!

    Hugs,

    Denise

  3. Mike, I feel your frustration. As a fellow author I’ve “been there and done that” with regards to publication dates etc. Hang in there! All good things are worth waiting for and I expect your book is going to be wonderful. I, for one, am happy to wait and reorder when the time comes.

    Cheers,
    Susan Allen

  4. Well… That’s life aye? Always throwing curve balls at us but we will prevail! I hope the new release date goes well for you.

  5. Oh no! How frustrating! As if publishing a book isn’t stressful enough…here’s hoping the wrinkles get smoothed out soon and that the rest of the process is problem-free for you 🙂

  6. Sorry to hear that, Mike. I know how frustrating delays like that can be. I just hope your unforeseen circumstances don’t involve illness or other equally challenging issues that affect you and your family. We’ll be here whenever you publish!

  7. Hi Mike – sounds like a frustrating time for you … good luck and we’ll still all be around – take care and enjoy the last of the summer wine! Cheers Hilary
