Picturesque Thurne Mill is one of Norfolk’s landmarks. It was built as a dyke drainage mill beside the River Thurne at the mouth of Thurne Dyke in 1820. It stopped work in 1936 and was lying derelict in 1949 when it was bought for £75 by Ronald (‘Bob’) Dorian Morse. This saved it from destruction and enabled renovation by local millwright Albert England. It is now privately owned by the nearby Wind Energy Museum, but needs support to survive. It has limited opening from April to September.
