The substantial remains of Newcastle upon Tyne's medieval castle, the keep and black tower, built on the site of the fortress that gave the City its name and which has been occupied for about 2,000 years. It is well worth a visit - fascinating history, including time when it was a slum, and great views of the City and River Tyne.
