Updated timelines

Brief Encounter, Carnforth, timelinesMy regular reader will be delighted to learn that A Bit About Britain’s history timelines have been updated. These already provide an invaluable source of trivia for any lover of British history who wants to check the essential milestones in our story, such as when the Romans arrived (and left) and when Winnie-the-Pooh was published. And, my goodness, I read some rubbish about the end of Roman rule on a website the other day.

However, the timelines are now in a new format, which it is hoped will make them easier to read on devices of different sizes –

There once was a man from Devizes
Whose devices were quite different sizes
One was so small, it was no good at all
But the other was large and won prizes.

If you’ve not already looked at them, you will find the timelines, with baffling logic, under the history section of the main menu; or you can cheat and start with Prehistoric Britain here. Buttons have been added at the bottom of each timeline, to make it easier to flick through them in sequence.

If you believe you’ve spotted a mistake, or an obvious omission, please let me know. If you think this is likely to embarrass either one of us, then you may prefer to get in touch privately via the contact page.
