St OSWALD’S, Warton

The present building dates from the 15th century, with much renovation work in the 19th century, though it is believed that a church has stood on the site for at least 1,000 years. There are associations with the ancestors of George Washington and the Washington coat of arms is on one of the church pews. There is also a Stars and Stripes in the church, a gift from American visitors, which is flown each 4th July.
